Woah, what a rush
I have wards and blessings up in my cube at work. With all the stress & negative energy they are imperative in this place & I'll put them up again in the new building.

Well, I just took them down in this cube and, wow, what a rush! I took the energy back into myself so that I could funnel it down into the Mother. I got such a buzz my ears tingled.

Just thought that was pretty darn cool. :D

5th Annual CSV/CSP/CGM Renn Faire trip
Folks,

Hi there!! It's that time of year again - time to get ready for our annual field trip to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. This year it will be Saturday, September 30th. Come enjoy good food, good shopping and good friends!

This event is open to members, students, visitors, friends, family, etc, and kids are welcome!

As long as we have a minimum of 20 people coming, ticket prices are as follows:
Adults $13
Seniors $13
Kids (7-15) $7
Kids (0-6) Free

Please have the number & type (i.e. 1 adult, 2 kids) of tickets you want & the appropriate $ to your respective High Priestess by Sunday, September 17th. Please put your money in a letter-sized envelope with your name and the # and type of tickets your want written on the envelope.

The Renn Faire runs from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm, with a short show about 9:30 am before the gates open. As usual, we will meet by the well by the ticket windows at 9:00 am to get your tickets. Anyone who hasn't arrived by 9:30 am will have their tickets dropped off at Will Call, where you can pick up your tickets using a photo i.d. If you ask me to purchase tickets and can't make it that day, your tickets will be good for any day of the Faire's run, and you will be able to pick them up at the Will Call window.

The only other "meeting time" that we have during the day is our annual group photo, at 5pm just inside the front gate by the fountain. You can see some of the group photos from earlier years on the Silver Veil website.

Please let me know if you have any questions!! I look forward to seeing lots of you there.

Bright blessings!
Linda

Need assistance for a student of mine
Hi all! I have a student who for medical reasons is having trouble doing the required reading for my class. She is in fact doing it, but it's very slow going and it's hard for her to retain the information she's reading.

Does anyone know of any Pagan or Wiccan "books on tape"? I'm specifically looking for Starhawk's Spiral Dance and Cunningham's Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner, but I'd be greatful for any resources suggested.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Linda

Annual Silver Veil Renn Faire trip
Folks,

Hi all!! It’s time to start getting ready for the Fifth Annual Silver Veil field trip to the Maryland Renaissance Festival (http://www.rennfest.com/). This year the date is Saturday, September 10th and we will all meet at the front gate at 9:30 am – 10:00 am.

Ticket prices at the gate are $17/person and $8 for children. However, I can get tickets for $14/person if we have less than 20 people going (not including me as I’ll have a season pass). If we have more than 20 people going, it will drop to $13/person with $7/child (after the 20 adults I think).

Due to time constraints, we will be doing things a little differently this year. Once you RSVP you will have a ticket(s) purchased. Since there are no events between now and the Faire field trip, please bring your ticket money with you. I will be buying these tickets with my own money, so please don’t RSVP if you aren’t going to come. This ticket will be good any time during the run, so if you can’t make in on the SV field trip day, you can use it later in the run – just let me know. However, you will not get the ticket until I have money and if you decide you don’t want the ticket and I can’t sell it to someone else, you still owe me the money. Sorry to be a little harsh on that, but that’s money for you. ;)

On to more fun stuff – Faire is always a blast. There’s great shopping, wonderful food and lots to see and do. You can go off on your own or stick together with everyone else, your choice. We usually end up doing lunch together and getting a group picture at the end of the day and splitting up in between. Check out the pictures from 2004 and 2003 on the Silver Veil website photo album.

I hope lots of you will be able to make it. I know we have lots of new people that I haven’t had a chance to really get to know. I’d love to see all of you out there and get to know you!

Bright blessings!
Linda

Sunday Before Samhain - announcement and call for teachers
Folks,

On Sunday, October 30th there will be the First Annual (with any luck! :) Sunday Before Samhain. This will be a series of classes taught in several tracks. We are still soliciting for teachers – you will need to be able to have three 2 hour classes with a central theme to present.

So far, the tracks are:

Death and Dying in the Wiccan Tradition taught by Linda Taggart (a.k.a. yours truly)
Chaos Magic taught by Terri Simon
Unknown taught by Judith Bailey

Tentatively, classes will be held at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm with a small ritual at 6:30. Friends and visitors are welcome. The main Samhain ritual will be Monday, October 31st at the normal time and, as always, is invitation/students only.

Please note that times/information may change, and if so changes will be sent to this list.

Thanks!

Linda

Discussion group
Folks,

I've been thinking of doing a monthly or bimonthly discussion group with SV folks about various topics of interest. Suggestions for topics are always welcome.

Todays topic: how does Wicca view terrorism? We have the Rede, which is as it harm none, however most would agree that our rules only apply to us and we let others follow their own Paths. If someone truly believes that they have to fight for what they feel is right, where does that leave us? On the one hand, we don't want them to be allowed to harm others or us. On the other hand, what right have we to say to someone "you can't change anything so just don't try"?

Opinions?
